Arriving just at the heels of the US presidential election, Steven Spielberg's august cinematic treatment of the final months of Abraham Lincoln is set to be one of the films of the year.

Starring the reclusive Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis in the titular role, the film boasts an ensemble cast which includes Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Sally Field and Mad Men's Jared Harris.

Focusing on the crucial final months of Lincoln's life - which encompass the abolition of slavery and the Union victory in the American Civil War - the film will be a far cry from Lincoln's most recent silver screen appearance... in which he was dispatched to battle against vampires.
