The European Film Awards, celebrating the crème de la crème of European cinema, will be held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta on December 1 – with British actress Helen Mirren (The Queen) and celebrated Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci confirmed as guests.

But are Maltese audiences aware of the importance of the awards? Given how local cinemas tend to favour Hollywood productions, will we even get to see the top-nominated films at the EFAs?

To discuss what we can expect from the awards themselves, Teodor Reljic is joined by Jean-Pierre Magro, a transmedia producer and lecturer in film at the University of Malta, and Aidan Celeste, the Maltese representative of 27 Times Cinema, a pan-European gathering of young cinephiles.
