Zucchero – next stop, Ta’ Qali

Italian singing superstar Zucchero has included Malta in his Chocabeck World Tour 2011, with a concert at the MFCC Open Grounds, Ta’ Qali on Saturday, 30 July, at 21:00

Inspired by the album with the eponymous title, released late last year, which has already gone multi-platinum, Zucchero will be singing tracks on the album, apart from many of his greatest hits. Antonella Vassallo, Director of Stand Out Events, the organiser of the concert, said preparations have been in hand for the past two months. She has put together a formidable team of consultants, including Amabile Zammit, who has been involved in the staging of concerts in Malta and abroad, and Reuben Caruana for logistics. Among the many concerts Zammit has organised were those of Joseph Calleja, Riccardo Muti and Andrea Bocelli, apart from the Jo Squillo fashion show. Last week, Vassallo and Zammit went to watch Zucchero’s concert in Dusseldorf and next week, she has been invited to watch his concert at the Arena di Verona. “This will be a top class performance, with Zucchero accompanied by an 11-piece band,” Vassallo said. “There are also two supporting bands, who will start performing at 20:00. These are bands have not been supporting acts in the past and their identity will be revealed closer to the event.” Zucchero (full name Adelmo Fornaciari) has written over 300 songs and released 15 studio albums, apart from working with many world-famous artists. His music is largely inspired by blues and rock, and he has been delighting his fans for more than three decades. The world tour started last month in Switzerland and he has since played in venues in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, the UK and Austria. This month he has concerts at the Arena di Verona, Italy, and venues in Austria, Switzerland and Croatia. Next month and in early August he will be performing at venues in Italy, apart from his Malta concert. Tickets for the concert, starting from €25 for Bronze, and €35 for Silver, both standing.
