Following victory at the Wacken Metal Battle Malta 2026 National Final, Haine will travel to Germany to represent Malta at Wacken Open Air, taking place from 29 July to 1 August 2026.

Held annually in the small German village of Wacken, the festival is widely regarded as one of the most important events in the international heavy music scene. Often described by fans as “the holy land”, it draws tens of thousands of attendees from around the world and has hosted many of the biggest names in metal history.

For Haine, the opportunity is very important. “Like countless musicians around the world, we grew up watching videos of bands performing at Wacken and imagining what it would be like to stand on those stages ourselves. To now be preparing for that experience is both surreal and humbling," the band said.

The journey to Germany began at Wacken Metal Battle Malta, where eight Maltese bands competed for a single place at the international finals. Each act performed before a packed audience and an international judging panel of ten music industry professionals.

In preparation, Haine spent weeks refining every detail of their set, including stage performance, transitions, and song selection. Their final set included Hate, Illuminate, Blood Moon, Contaminated, and Insentient, showcasing their modern heavy sound.

The atmosphere at the competition reflected the strength of Malta’s metal community, bringing together musicians, organisers, and supporters in a shared space of performance, networking, and collaboration.

Following deliberation, Haine was announced as the winner of Wacken Metal Battle Malta 2026, securing Malta’s place on one of the world’s most prestigious heavy music stages.

The band credits the achievement to years of consistent work, including releases, music videos, and international outreach, alongside the support of the local scene.

They also acknowledged Nick Grima and the Wacken Metal Battle Malta team for creating a platform that connects Maltese artists with international opportunities and industry networks.

“We would not be here without the foundations built over many years, mainly by Nick Grima. The platform is vital for local bands, and we are grateful to carry it forward.”

As preparations continue, Haine says the focus is on representation beyond the band itself. “We are not only representing Haine. We are representing Malta and everyone who supports the local metal scene. If even a few people discover Maltese music through Wacken, that will be meaningful.”

This summer, Haine will join international acts at Wacken Open Air from 29 July to 1 August 2026, marking a major milestone for a band that began in rehearsal rooms on a small Mediterranean island.
