Government to sponsor Joseph Calleja summer concert, free access to standing areas.

Anyone interested in going to the Joseph Calleja summer concert at the Granaries in Floriana is in for a pleasent surprise. You can now attend for free. Yesterday, the government and organisers announced that entrance to the standing area at Calleja's 1 August concert will be free.

This was possible following an agreement between the government and the company organising the concert, NnG Promotions, led by the national broadcaster's CEO, Anton Attard. The concert is expected to attract 10,000 persons.

The renowned tenor, Joseph Calleja will this year sing alongside Italian star Zucchero and Rebecca Ferguson, while Malta's Eurovision representative Gianluca Bezzina and internationally renowned DJ duo Tenishia will also be on stage with Calleja.

'Miserere' will be among the duets Calleja is to sing with Zucchero, famous for his rendition of Gregorio Allegri masterpiece together with the legendry Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti.

The annual concert, once again featuring the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra and the Joseph Calleja BOV Children's Choir, will be filmed in high definition to be distributed across Europe.
