Winter Moods' anniversary concert raises €40,300 for charity

Winter Moods gave a two-and-a-half hour show, performing their most popular hits and also introduced new songs from their latest album The Journey.

Winter Moods’ 30th anniversary concert, held on the 13 June in the remarkable setting of Fort St Elmo, raised €40,300 for Puttinu Cares. This amount is made up of all the revenue from ticket sales, as well as donations. The cost of putting up the concert was covered through partners and sponsors.

Winter Moods gave a two-and-a-half hour show, performing their most popular hits and also introduced new songs from their latest album The Journey.

The intimate crowd of around 3,000 people of all ages that attended the event sang through Sarah, Everyday Song, My Neverland, Hang On To Your Smile, Everlasting, Days Of My Life and the band’s forever classic – Marigold, which included the surprise participation of the international DJ duo Tenishia.

“We are very happy to have celebrated another milestone with such a memorable night. It was special; the response of the crowd on the night and the feedback from the people after the event mean everything to us. And we are especially delighted to have raised over €40,000 for Puttinu, an organization made up of passionate people with hearts of gold that deserve all our support.

"Thank you especially to the entities who supported us and made this possible; our crew and everyone who worked behind the scenes; and the people, for being there with us once again,” said Ivan Grech, frontman of Winter Moods.

The band interacted with the audience, as they walked through memories and reminisced over their 30 years of music. The performance included a touching tribute to ex-founder and guitarist Steve Caruana Smith in Lights Are Fading Out – a song which Steve was due to record with the band on their last album but passed away before this happened.

Guest performers on the night included the introduction of 15-year-old singer-song writer Hannah Brown, who performed her own song Kicking Down the Wall with the band. Other guests also included Maestro Joe Brown on piano, Charles Busuttil on acoustic guitar, Mark Farrugia on trumpet, Dennis Kurun Camilleri on trombone and Ivan Borg on Saxophone. Backing vocals on the night were Beverly Cutajar, Fiona Cauchi and Georgina Abela.

Talented young musicians New Victorians and Joe Roscoe opened the night for Winter Moods.

The concert was supported by BOV, the Marigold Foundation, Coca Cola, Jack Daniels, Hard Rock Café, Renault, BMIT, Antica Gelateria, Mapfre Middle Sea, Nexos Lighting and Best Team Audio.
