Government monitoring situation of Maltese businesses in Libya

Economy ministry says it is in contact with constituted bodies

The government has said it is "monitoring closely" Maltese businesses which have interests in Libya following the evolving situation in the neighbouring country.

The Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business sadi it was in direct contact with constituted bodies including the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, GRTU, the Libyan-Maltese Chamber of Commerce, and the Malta Employers’ Association (MEA) and has already started discussing ways of supporting these businesses.

"In the coming days tqw will be announcing specific measures by means of which the government can further assist effectively Maltese businesses in Libya. Government’s main aim is that of protecting jobs and businesses," the ministry said.
