GO withdraws extra fee charged on different payment methods

Melita plc insists it is not ‘imposing’ additional fees on its payment methods • Ongoing discussions with Vodafone

Communications services company GO has agreed to stop charging clients extra when applying different methods of payment, the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority said in a statement.

MCCAA said it had launched administrative procedures in August and GO plc has agreed to stop charging extra payments, as of 1 December. This includes clients who don’t pay their bills through direct debit.

With regard to costs related to printed bills, GO place agreed to continue to provide clear information, with the exception of those adverts aired on radio due to the medium’s limitations.

Melita plc is insisting that it’s not imposing any additional costs to clients who don’t pay through direct debit. Discussions between MCCAA and Vodafone Malta are still underway. The discussions, it added, are at an advanced stage.
