Man deported after Paceville arrest leads to immigration investigation

The Immigration Police deported a 26-year-old man illegally residing in Malta back to his country of origin in East Africa.
The police said the man was arrested in Paceville earlier this year for breaching public peace. An investigation was subsequently launched by the Principal Immigration Officer, who found that the man was working irregularly in Malta on an expired permit.
This led to a Return and Removal Order to be issued against him along with a ban preventing the man from re-entering the Schengen area.
He remained held in a detention centre under the care of the Detention Services Agency until the return process was completed.
