Woman, 60, dies after swimming incident in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq

A 60-year-old woman died after encountering difficulties while swimming in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq on Saturday evening.

Police arrived at the scene after receiving a report of the incident in Triq il-Blat l-Abjad, Naxxar, at around 8pm.

Preliminary investigations found that the woman encountered difficulties while swimming and was pulled from the sea by bystanders, who attempted to administer first aid.

She was assisted by a medical team before being taken by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where she was certified dead shortly afterwards.

Magistrate Joe Mifsud appointed an inquiry, while police investigations are ongoing.
