Man hospitalised after falling into shaft at Gżira

A 30-year-old Brazilian man was seriously injured after falling around one-and-a-half storeys into a shaft at an apartment block in Gżira on Wednesday morning.

Police were informed of the incident in Manuel De Vilhena Street at around 6am.

Civil Protection Department members and a medical team were called to the scene to assist.

The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was certified to have suffered serious injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
