Scream Daisy singer admits to drug charges

Scream Daisy vocalist Jotham Saliba pleaded guilty to charges of drug possession, in amounts denoted as not for personal use.

Jotham Saliba, 42 of Zejtun was released on bail by a Magistrate early this afternoon, after he pleaded guilty to being in possession of ecstasy, cocaine, cannabis and LSD in amounts which denoted it was not for his personal use.

Saliba, the vocalist of popular band Scream Daisy, works as a supervisor at HSBC Bank. He was arrested on Friday and detained until his arraignment before Magistrate Audrey Demicoli this afternoon.

He was also charged with committing the crime within 100 metres of a centre frequented by  young people and for relapsing.

He pleaded guilty to possession, but denied the amounts contested by the Police. 

Saliba was granted bail against a deposit of €800 and a €2,000 personal guarantee.

Inspector Pierre Grech, from the Drugs Squad led the prosecution.

A spokesperson for the band said that there was no association between any of Scream Daisy's band members with Saliba. "The band split up in September 2012," the spokesperson said.
