Qormi thief remanded in custody

Magistrate has harsh words for handbag thief

Sebastian Farrugia, 37 of Qormi, was severely reprimanded by a court for stealing a woman's handbag.

Magistrate Carol Peralta lashed out at Farrugia, saying the accused should be "ashamed of himself" for having "played the tough guy" with a woman.

The incident happened in Qormi on Saturday when the man made away with a handbag containing €350. He was also charged with relapsing.

Farrugia apologised to the woman and told the Magistrate he "simply did what others had done to his mother."

The court remanded the accused in custody.
