The raging controversy of former TV presenter, now Nationalist candidate Norman Vella’s redeployment to his original civil service posting at the airport's immigration department, has taken a new twist after Home Affairs ministry chief of staff Silvio Scerri accused TV personality John Bundy of making false claims about him.

Assisted by lawyer Edward Gatt, Scerri is calling on the courts to find John Bundy guilty of defamation and of making false allegations aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Scerri’s court action follows statements by Vella in the Employment Commission's tribunal, that John Bundy had told him that it was Manuel Mallia's chief of staff who was behind Vella's termination of his presnter's role at PBS, and redeployment back to the immigration department.

“Bundy told me he had overheard Scerri saying he wanted me out of PBS," Vella told the Employment Commission.

Bundy corroborated Vella’s statements and has publicly declared he has no problem in appearing before the courts “so that the truth comes out”.
