Export manager remanded in custody on misappropriation charges

Boateng was accused of defrauding his colleagues whilst employed as a manager of the company.

A man was denied bail after appearing in court this morning, charged with defrauding his employer out of over €5,000 in March last year.

Stephen Osei Boateng, 33, who lives in St Paul’s Bay was arraigned this morning before Magistrate Ian Farrugia, accused of misappropriating funds from Mohammed Hanif, Muhammad Mahsud Yahya and African Eagle Import Export Limited, aggravated theft and relapsing.

Boateng was accused of defrauding his colleagues whilst employed as a manager of the company.

He was also accused of using false names and qualifications which he used to convince others of the existence of companies and bank accounts.

Defence lawyer Valentina Lattughi requested bail, but this was turned down by Magistrate Ian Farrugia.

Inspector Jonathan Ferris prosecuted. Lawyers Noel Biancho and Johann Debono appeared parte civile.
