Motorcyclist, 20, grievously injured in crash

A 20-year-old man was seriously injured after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a traffic barrier while driving along the Coast Road in Bahar ic-Caghaq.

The police said the incident occurred at around 12:45pm when the motorcyclist lost control of his Aprilia RS 125, skidded, crashed into a traffic barrier and fell off his bike.

The Gzira resident was given first aid by passers by and motorists who witnessed the accident before police officers and a team of paramedics arrived on site.

The youth was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

He was later certified to be suffering from grievous injuries, police said.
