Police investigations are under way after a car allegedly hit two teenagers in Mdina on Sunday, and drove off without stopping.

The two victims, a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, were slightly injured in the hit-and-run.

The incident happened at around 6.45pm, with the two having been struck by a silver Fiat Punto as they were crossing the road opposite the horse shelter near Mdina Gate.

The driver of the car is said to have overtaken another car which had stopped to allow the teenagers to cross, hitting them in the process. A passenger was also in the car at the time.

One of the victims' father, criminologist Saviour Formosa, is urging the driver to turn himself in.

In a post on Facebook, Formosa said "irrispective of the fear you might have felt at the moment, you should by now have grown a pair and owned up and prepared to make reparations to your victims".
