A court has given a a thief who stole over €2,300 in cash a second chance.

Joseph Farrugia, a 27-year-old kitchen helper from Birkirkara appeared in the dock before magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace this morning, accused of stealing envelopes containing the cash from a Cospicua residence.

Farrugia’s lawyer, Fransina Abela, entered a plea of guilty to the charge of aggravated theft. 

The court placed the man on probation for three years. "You're still young, don't ruin everything...your life and that of those around you," the magistrate admonished.
