86-year-old woman hospitalised after traffic collision

A Land Rover Freelander, driven by a 40-year-old woman crashed into the elderly's vehicle on Friday

An 86-year-old woman was seriously injured in a traffic collision in San Gwann on Friday, Police have said.

The incident took place at around 2pm on Triq in-Naxxar. Police have said that the woman was hit by a Land Rover Freelander that was being driven by a 40-year-old San Gwann female resident.

Police and a medical unit went on site and the elderly woman was transported to Mater Dei where she was certified as having sustained serious injuries.

Magistrate Charmaine Galea was informed of the case and she appointed an inquiry and several experts to assist her.

Police investigations are ongoing.
