Momentum candidate's campaign banners stolen from Marsaskala
Momentum says the theft of candidate Mark Philip Camilleri Gambin's banners in the third district is a targeted act of censorship, as banners from other parties in the same area were left untouched
Campaign banners belonging to Momentum General Secretary and electoral candidate Mark Philip Camilleri Gambin were stolen from Marsaskala, in one of the two districts he will be contesting in the upcoming election.
"While it is certainly frustrating to deal with these petty tactics, this incident will absolutely not slow us down," Camilleri Gambin said. "If someone believes that removing a few banners will silence our questions about the Marsaskala promenade project, they are very much mistaken. We will keep fighting for good governance, a beautiful island, and a transparent process for all residents."
Camilleri Gambin has been vocal about the Marsaskala promenade project, repeatedly calling on the authorities to be more transparent with the public.
Momentum said the theft appeared to be linked to this scrutiny, suggesting that certain individuals were uncomfortable with the candidate's open approach to local governance issues.
It was pointed out that banners belonging to other political parties in the same area were left completely untouched.
Camilleri Gambin filed a formal police report on the matter on Saturday. Momentum has urged anyone with information about the theft to come forward and contact the local authorities.
