European political families issue support for PL, PN
The European Socialists and the European People's Party echo Labour and Nationalist campaign narratives on social media posts in show of support ahead of the 30 May general election
The Party of European Socialists (PES) issued its message of support for the Labour Party, sharing a social media post featuring a photo of Prime Minister Robert Abela and wishing him good luck in Saturday’s general election.
The message states that the PL will continue working to deliver better wages, stronger public services, and greater support for families and workers, with a focus on building a fairer future and expanding opportunities for coming generations.
Similarly, the European People’s Party (EPP) also issued a message of support for the Nationalist Party, sharing a short video clip showing Alex Borg meeting people and addressing political rallies.
The message reflected the PN’s campaign narrative that Malta deserves a fresh start and framed the election as a moment to restore belief in the country’s future, its people, and its potential under Borg’s leadership.
Two other parties contesting the election are also aligned with European political parties. ADPD–The Green Party is aligned with the left-leaning European Green Party, while Momentum is aligned with the centrist European Democratic Party.
