On a hot Monday morning, Robert Abela was sworn in as prime minister for his third tenure after securing victory in the 2026 general election.

Our photographer Daniel Tihn went to Valletta to capture scenes from the ceremony and the walk from the Grand Master's Palace to Castille.

Before the ceremony began, Valletta's streets were being filled by PL supporters gathered to congratulate their leader.

Despite the heat, supporters waited behind barricades waiting for the procession.

The Abelas then walked up the steps of Castille and waved at the crowd, before walking up to the second storey of the auberge, and waving from the window.
