Libyan children arrive in Malta for treatment at Mater Dei hospital
Five Libyan children have been brought to Malta from Benghazi and are being given treatment at Mater Dei Hospital.
The children arrived on a special Air Libya flight, operated by the Benghazi-based Libya Transitional Council and a number of volunteers.
The Maltese government has been in constant negotiations with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) to ensure the evacuation and transport of the children who will be hosted in Malta as part of its humanitarian operations to assist the Libyan people.
Senior officials from the Libyan Transitional Council also arrived on the special flight from Benghazi, while talks also continue of foreign minister Tonio Borg proposal to set up a field hospital in Malta in collaboration with the State of Qatar.
