‘Not a rebel, but a politician in the 21st century’ – Franco Debono
Nationalist backbencher Franco Debono has dismissed the ‘rebel’ tag, and described himself as a “politician in the 21st century”.
In a video interview with TodayNews Focus, (see video below) Franco Debono - who last week abstained from voting with government against an Opposition motion that called for minister Austin Gatt's resignation - denied any connection of events to him presenting a motion to the House to discuss "urgent" reforms to the justice system and the police.
Debono said that the motion was presented for the country to take note of the important changes which are needed to strengthen democracy.
