Consumer authority recalls dolphin plush toy over choking hazard
The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority informed the public about the dangers of a dolphin plush toy which was being distributed as a promotional product in pharmacies in Malta and Gozo
The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) has informed the public about the dangers of a dolphin plush toy, which is distributed through pharmacies in Malta and Gozo.
The plush toy, produced by the brand ‘Sterimar’, has been recalled from the market following the identification of a potential safety issue involving the toy’s eye components, which may detach and pose as a choking hazard for infants and young children.
As a result, the MCCAA has taken the appropriate procedures to ensure that the distribution of this product is halted, and to make sure pharmacies are aware of the recall.
Consumers who own the above-mentioned product should refrain from using it and, where possible, dispose of the toy safely.
As this dolphin plush toy was supplied free of charge as a promotional product, the provision of a remedy that is normally attributed to a recalled product does not apply in this case.
Consumers are always reminded to check the Safety Gate platform found here before purchasing products in case the product they are about to purchase is a recalled one.
