Wardija Resource Centre to reopen admissions after teachers, LSEs allocated
The Dun Manwel Attard Resource Centre in Wardija will reopen in the new scholastic year and all students who applied and are eligible will be admitted, the Education Ministry says
The Dun Manwel Attard Resource Centre in Wardija will accept all eligible students for the upcoming scholastic year after additional human resources including teachers and LSEs were allocated, the Education Ministry announced.
In a statement on Thursday, the ministry said parents and students, who had received letters stating that a place at the school could not be secured will soon receive a second letter confirming their admission. The school forms part of the St Nicholas College and catered for students with a disability aged between 16 and 22.
Last March, the Movement in Favour of Rights for Persons with Disability (MFRPD) filed the judicial protest after the school was omitted from a list of specialised support facilities available for the next scholastic year.
At the time, the omission had raised concerns among parents and advocates, given the centre’s role as Malta’s only state resource facility catering specifically for students with a disability aged 16 to 22.
The ministry linked the reopening of the school to the introduction of the LifeMap programme, saying both initiatives will enable students to further develop their abilities, acquire new skills, and continue their educational journey in an inclusive environment.
The ministry affirmed its commitment to further investment in the school, saying it will continue to make a significant and positive contribution to students’ lives.
