In the Press: Tension between Libya governments results in visa ban

Ongoing tensions between the two governments in Libya have resulted in one refusing to recognize travel visas issued by the other. Foreign affairs minister George Vella called for the matter to be discussed and reiterated Malta's support of the Tobruk-based government.

Libyan Charges d'Affaires Hussin Musrati said that the Maltese government's continued support of of the Tobruk government would have trade implications. The Tobruk government was declared illegitimate by Libya's Supreme Court.

A Cessna Citation aircraft has been grounded in Malta for the past five months, the subject of a legal battle between the German company that owns it and the Maltese company that wishes to buy it, for use as an air ambulance. An injunction was filed by Medilink International Air Ambulance Limited, after it was discovered that the plane has several technical issues.
