In the Press: NGOs speak out against MEPA amnesty

Environmental NGOs have voiced their opposition to MEPA amnesty plans that would bring in millions in fines and clear its pending enforcement actions. They said the plan would foster a culture of abuse, with developers making a mockery of current planning laws.

The Commissioner for Revenue said that governments and the EU turned a blind eye to the activities of HSBC bank in Switzerland, which helped clients worldwide dodge taxation. 71 Maltese clients were named on a list leaked earlier this week.

A pregnant woman and her husband were kept in custody for several hours last week at the airport, after authorities flagged issues with the man's documents. The couple, believed to be Tunisian, was traveling from Switzerland.

Hundreds of families visited the airport to celebrate 100 years of aviation in Malta. Visitors had the opportunity to get up close to a number of different aircraft, including the AFM's latest acquisitions.
