The Maltese government is assisting three persons who were kidnapped in Libya but were evacuated to Malta on Friday.

In a statement, the government said the three, two from Bangladesh and one from Ghana, had been kidnapped together with six other persons on 6 March, near an oilfield.

After the three men were released, assistance was requested to evacuate the workers to Malta. Two of the workers are now on their way to their home country while a third will be leaving in the coming hours.
