It has emerged that the bus lane along the Sliema-Gzira front, which stirred controversy during its construction amid fears it would increase congestion, is not legal, according to a local tribunal commissioner. A bus lane is only legal if it was adjacent to two lanes, not one as is the case in Sliema.

The case Daboma Jack, who was on the receiving end of racial abuse last month after trying to organise a queue at the Valletta bus terminus, was dismissed yesterday after both parties agree to drop charges.
