In the Press: IS claim responsibility for Brussels attacks

Headlines today are dominated by reports of yesterday's terrorist attacks in Belgium. Two explosions rocked Brussels' Zaventem airport, followed by a blast at the Maelbeek metro station in the heart of the city. At least 34 people lost their lives and some 200 were injured in the attacks, for which the Islamic State group claimed responsibility.

Finance minister Edward Scicluna declined to comment on energy minister Konrad Mizzi's Panamanian company, saying that it would not be appropriate to do so until a tax audit had been completed.

The funeral of Archbishop emeritus Guzeppi Mercieca will be held today in St John's Co-Cathedral. The service will begin at 4pm, followed by a cortege through Republic Street and a private burial in Mdina.

Parliamentary seceretary Jose Herrera has launched a visa and residency scheme in Shanghai, China, aimed at investors willing to buy or rent property in Malta or make a considerable payment through Identity Malta.

1,700 tonnes of waste were removed from the Zabbar ditch, a site notorious for illegal dumping. It is estimated that thousands of tonnes of refuse still require removal from the site, necessitating the use of specialized equipment.
