Reacting to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat's threat to file libel proceedings against him, PN leader Simon Busuttil said that it was “tragic” that Muscat was giving the impression that "it is OK for a minister and a Prime Minister's chief of staff to open a secret company and account in Panama."

“The public will take it's decision, but the PM is  effectively giving his blessing to such actions given his decision yesterday, and he has therefore become as culpable as his team,” he said stressing that this emphasised his complicity in the dubious actions.

He reiterated that the  reshuffle was  a “farce” made even more ridiculous by the reinstatement of Manuel Mallia as a minister.

“The PN will continue to focus on discussing the no confidence motion against Konrad Mizzi in parliament,” he said adding that the PN would continue to pursue the. After even beyond this.

Busuttil said that the public was even more furious as a result of this move adding that the PN "will not let this subject go, because the public is still disturbed by the matter."

Busuttil visits Actavis pharmaceutical company

Busuttil was commenting after a visit to the Actavis pharmaceutical branch in Bulebel in the run up to Worker’s Day. During the visit, Busuttil said that although focus had shifted to the financial services sector in recent months, manufacturing remained one of the strongest sectors in the country's economy and that it continued to create increased job opportunities and wealth in the country.

“The economy is not an end in itself, it has to be beneficial to the people,” he said adding that the government had a duty to offer assistance to manufacturing companies when they were facing specific difficulties.

Busuttil added that offering such support in the same way that previous governments had done, remained one of the main visions if the Nationalist Party, and that the PN would continue to offer support to companies in the sector
