New committee to reach retirement agreement for Air Malta staff

A new committee seeking an agreement on retirement schemes and a new collective agreement with Air Malta unions will be formed, tourism minister Edward Zammit Lewis has announced

A new committee will be formed with the aim of reaching an agreement on retirement schemes and negotiating a new collective agreement with all Air Malta unions, by the end of June, tourism minister Edward Zammit Lewis has announced.

The committee will comprise a representative from the ministry of tourism and that of finance, as well as a representative from the Air Malta management. It will be presided by former President George Abela.

In a statement, Zammit Lewis said that the move will ensure that workers’ rights continue to be safeguarded, while also creating more flexibility, efficiency and productivity for the airline.
