Thousands of people marched from Mellieha to Senglea in aid of Puttinu Cares in this year’s early morning Good Friday walk.

As has become tradition, the crowds participating the 14th edition of the annual walk gathered at the Mellieha parish church at 2:00am and walked 30km across the island, arriving at Senglea at around 7:00am.

Participants are asked to give a minimum donation of €10 to contribute to the Puttinu Cares Cancer Support Group.

Last year, over 10,000 people participated, with more than €100,000 being collected both from participants and several other sponsors who support this event.

Organisers are yet to issue official figures for this year’s walk.

Participants were awarded certificates of participation.
