Tower Road closed off after construction site wall collapses

Sliema's Tower Road is temporarily closed off after a supporting wall at a construction site collapsed on Thursday afternoon.

Luckily, nobody was injured, with the wall having collapsed into the construction area itself rather than onto the busy street.

The street was closed to traffic as a precautionary measure, and a Civil Protection Department fire engine is on site, the police told this newsroom.

Tower Road, in the centre of Sliema's commercial area, is one of the town's best know streets and home to several shops.
