A customs joint enforcement task force seized over 215 bottles of contraband from a Valletta restaurant after a recent raid on the place.

The task force, which included the department of taxation, acted on suspicions that the restaurateur was importing a high volume of wine bottles, buying contraband wine, and reselling them.

The inspection resulted in the seizure 215 bottles ready to be sold on the market.

The Customs JET is tasked with intelligence on fiscal evasion and inspections, and in recent months has carried out strategic raids in various sectors.

The restaurant was not named.
