Libyan PM Jibril wishes Gaddafi had not been killed

Libyan Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril says he wished Muammar Gaddafi had been put on trial for his crimes and not killed.

Jibril said that he wished Gaddafi was still alive because he wanted to put Gaddafi on trial and find out why he had done this to the Libyan people because he felt it was the question on everybody’s mind.

Remaining on public display in Libya on Saturday, Muammar Gaddafi’s body showed wounds thought to have been caused by the fighters who caught him in a drain in Sirte

An investigation into the killing has been called by UN Human Rights Commissioner Navi Pillay. Jibril said that he would be willing to conduct a full investigation monitored by an international team but must be done before the body is buried according to Islamic rule.

Jibril admits that there may have been some human rights violations during Libya’s revolution but would welcome continued support from NATO after their air campaign concludes at the end of October.
