Recipe | Stewed pears served with kiwi sauce

Home Economics student Josefa Spiteri prepares stewed pears served with kiwi sauce, ideal for dessert or as a savoury snack.

Ingredients:

·      3 pears

·      4 apples

·      4 oranges

·      2 lemons

·      4 teaspoons margarine

·      3 teaspoons honey

Kiwi sauce:

·      2 ripe kiwi                                               

·      ½ lemon juice

Method:

Squeeze the oranges and lemons. Melt the margarine; add honey, orange juice and lemon juice. Peel the pears and remove seeds.  Slice the pears in two and chop the apple in smaller pieces. Cook them in the juice until soft.

Blend the kiwis and add lemon juice according to your taste.

Serve half a pear and two spoonfuls of apples. Pour the kiwi sauce in the scooped area of the pear.
