Valletta striker Terence Scerri handed one-year ban

The Malta Football Association has suspended Valletta striker Terence Scerri for a year from all football activities.
 

Scerri, who was reported for hitting an opponent and for passing on remarks to the referee on the way to the tunnel, was suspended until May 24, 2012. He was also given a ban of a further five FA Trophy matches.

Terence Scerri, 27 was arraigned in court on Monday accused of trying to seriously injure Floriana player Christian Cassar, slightly injuring him and relapsing.

The incidents took place during Sunday's FA Trophy final, which was won by Floriana.

Another player, Jamie Pace, was suspended for three games.

Valletta FC will appeal against this decision
