Derby victory for Hibernians

Derby victory would go to Hibernians after they defeated Tarxien Rainbows 3-0.

This result leaves Hibernians at the top of the table while Tarxien remain in fourth place with Sliema Wanderers.

Hibernians did not waste any time before they took the lead.

On the seventh minute, off a Clayton Failla cross, Rodolfo Soares beat goalkeeper David Cassar with his shot.

Tarxien immediately replied on the tenth minute when Leandro da Silva Almeida's effort went high.

The match would turn for the worse for Tarxien when they were reduced to ten men on the 31st minute after Andrezinho picked up his second yellow card of the match.

Tarxien were rewarded a penalty on the 65th minute when Leandro Almeida was brought down inside the area by Ryan Camilleri. From the penalty sport, Mark Tanti hit the woodwork with his shot.

Hibernians were unlucky not to double their score when substitute Allan Kardeck dos Santos hit the woodwork with his shot.

Hibernians managed to score their second goal of the match on the 77th minute. Off a corner by Clayton Failla, Jean Paul Farrugia headed the ball past goalkeeper David Cassar to make the score 2-0.

Hibernians were not content with two goals and on the 82nd minute they scored the third to seal the points. Goalkeeper David Cassar rushed out of the area to clear the ball but Clayton Failla was there to easily score.

Clayton Failla was voted BOV Player of the Match.
