Malta defeated Armenia 1-0 in their 2014 World Cup qualifier at the Republic Stadium in Yerevan.
Malta were ahead just after seven minutes when Gareth Sciberras served Michael Mifsud who then had his first shot blocked by goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky, but off the rebound the Valletta striker made no mistake to give Malta the lead.
This victory was Malta’s first competitive win since they defeated Hungary in a European championship qualifier at Ta’ Qali in 2006 and it was their first away victory since they defeated Estonia in May 1993 in a World Cup qualifier.
Michael Mifsud has increased his tally of goals to 37.
Malta now are level on points with Armenia in Group B.
