Balzan leave it late to earn point

Newly promoted side Vittoriosa, were denied victory when Balzan managed to score just before the end of the match to make the final score 2-2.

Vittoriosa were very unlucky not to win the match as they were the better team throughout the match.

Balzan managed to take the lead on the 31st minute. Vignaroli served Aaron Agius who then went on to beat goalkeeper Sean cini with his shot.

Vittoriosa were back in the match after they scored the equaliser just eight minutes later. Off a freekick by Gilbert Martin, Oscar Guerrero made no mistake with his shot on goal.

Balzan were reduced to ten-men on the 65th minute when Aaron Agius picked up a second yellow card.

Vittoriosa managed to take the lead for the first time in the match on the 70th minute. Oscar Guerrero beat goalkeeper Daniel Miguelez Martinez with his shot after receiving a precise pass from Siraj Arab.

When Vittoriosa thought they had the three points secured, Balzan scored just one minute before the final whistle. Off a corner by Mark Spiteri, Andrew Scicluna headed the ball in past goalkeeper Sean Cini.

Both teams had to settle for a point each on their first match of the season.

Gilbert Martin was voted BOV Player of the Match.
