Hibernians leave it late to collect another three points

Bjorn Kristensen’s strike on the 93rd made the difference for Hibernians as they managed to overcome Pembroke Athlete 2-1.

Pembroke made a good start to the match and had a good opportunity on the 1st minute. Siraj Arab tried to chip the ball inside the net, but Andrei Agius managed to clear off the line.

 On the 4th minute, Agius committed an own goal to put Pembroke ahead. Siraj Arab sent a cross from the right flank that came off Andrei Agius, whose deflection ended up inside the net.

Hibs tried to hit back through Jurgen Degabriele who fired a shot that was saved by Mario Muscat.

Pembroke had a chance to double the score when Luke Montebello won the ball inside the Hibernians defence, but fired wide.

Hibs took control of the match and lost another good opportunity when from Johann Bezzina’s cross, Renan Pimenta Tilles headed over.

Miller’s side efforts paid off on the 62nd minute. Bjorn Kristensen delivered the ball towards Varea, who went past Muscat and finished inside the net.

The Paolites’ kept putting pressure and had another opportunity after Varea saw his header being neutralised by Muscat.

Muscat was on the alert to deny his former club once more when after receiving from Marcelo Dias, Varea saw his effort being saved by the veteran goalkeeper.

Muscat could not do anything on the 93rd minute when from Clayton Failla’s free kick, Kristensen headed past Muscat to earn his side their third consecutive win.
