Malta were close to open the score on the 6th minute. Jake Grech went down the right flank before delivering the ball towards the unmarked Ryan Camenzuli who fired high.

On the 32nd minute, Ryan Camenzuli managed to go past a Latvian defender and delivered a through ball towards Jurgen Degabriele. However, the pass was too long and Zommer Kristaps managed to get to the ball first.

A minute later, the Maltese captain had another great opportunity after going through on the right side of the penalty area, but his close range shot missed the target.

Malta managed to break the deadlock one minute into the second half. Joseph Mbong delivered the ball towards Jake Grech who fired a stunning shot from the edge of the penalty area that gave the Latvian goalkeeper no chance.

Lwelyn Cremona was close to double the score on the 48th minute after his long range shot ended up centimetres high.

On the hour mark, Malta had another chance on goal when Mbong went on the right side and sent a cross that was met by Jurgen Degabriele. However, the Hibernians striker saw his effort ending up wide.

In the remaining half an hour, Malta managed to control their opponents to take an important win that puts them fourth with eight points.

The Maltese team will play again next Tuesday (18:00) at the Hibernians stadium.
