Manchester United won the UEFA Europa League after securing a 2-0 win over a young Ajax Side.

Manchester United made their intentions clear from the start and were close after just thirty seconds. Paul Pogba hit a volley from distance that ended up slightly wide.

Ajax regained momentum and tested Sergio Romero on the 15th minute. Bertrand Traore` fired a shot that was neutralised by the Argentine goalkeeper.

However, Jose` Mourinho’s side went ahead on the 18th minute. Pogba sent a shot from the edge of the penalty area that took a deflection off Davinson Sanchez and ended up inside the net.

On the 24th minute, Antonio Valencia of Manchester United went running inside the penalty area past Jairo Riedewald before hitting a strong shot that was well blocked by Andre Onana.

In the remaining minutes, Ajax controlled possession without creating any chances on goal. On the other hand, Manchester United were happy to sit back and wait patiently for their opponents as the first half ended 1-0 in favour of the English side.

Manchester United increased their advantage three minutes into the second half. Following a corner, Chris Smalling nodded the ball towards Henrikh Mkhitaryan who lifted it over his shoulder and into the roof of the net.

On the 64th minute, Pogba sent a cross that was met by Marouane Fellaini whose header was saved by Onana.

Following this result, Manchester United will play in next season’s UEFA Champions League despite finishing sixth in the Premier League.
