Birkirkara returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over bottom side Lija Athletic.

Birkirkara went ahead on the 18th minute. Luke Montebello hit a shot from the edge of the penalty area that gave Luke Bonnici no chance.

Three minutes later, Ryan Scicluna of Birkirkara sent a shot from a free-kick that was tipped behind by Bonnici.

Lija were denied by the post on the 42nd minute. Djamel Leeflang’s saw his effort hitting the woodwork.

On the 75th minute, it was Birkirkara’s turn to hit the post. Scicluna fired a shot from distance that hit the post.

Lija were reduced to ten men on the 78th minute. Bonnici rushed out of his position and brought down Carlos Alberto Da Silva. The referee judged the situation to be a clear chance on goal and sent off Lija’s goalkeeper.

The stripes took advantage and sealed the issue on the 90th minute. Substitute Fabiano Montero De Oliveira sent a cross that was met by Edward Herrera who finished home.
