Two second half goals were enough for Sliema as they registered a 2-0 win over St Andrews.

The Wanderers created the first opportunity of the match on the 15th minute. Matias Muchardi received the ball from Frank Temille and sent a shot that was saved by Glen Zammit.

St Andrews replied on the 29th minute. Joseph Farrugia hit a shot from a free-kick that was tipped behind by Glenn Zammit.

John Buttigieg’s side threatened again four minutes later. Nikola Gavric served Jefferson De Assis and the latter saw his shot going wide.

St Andrews nearly went ahead on the 38th minute. Misael Miranda Gomez fired a shot that hit the upright.

Sliema took control of the match in the second half and went close on the 55th minute. Ricardo Correa Duarte delivered a cross in the direction of Michele Sansone whose header was saved by Matthew Calleja Cremona.

Three minutes later, Sliema went ahead. Jefferson De Assis received the ball from Sansone and hit a low shot past Calleja Cremona.

The blues increased their advantage on the 76th minute. Correa Duarte sent a cross from a corner in the direction of Gavric whose header gave Calleja Cremona no chance.
