Valletta made their intentions clear from the start and created a promising opportunity after seven minutes. Rowen Muscat received the ball from Mario Fontanella and fired a shot that was blocked by Kristijan Naumovski.

Naumovski was on the alert to deny Valletta again on the 36th minute. Bojan Kaljevic served Fontanella and the latter saw his close range effort being saved by Birkirkara’s custodian.

Moments later, Kaljevic hit a powerful shot that forced another save from Naumovski.

However, Naumovski could not deny Valletta again on the 56th minute. Miguel Angel Alba delivered a cross from the right that was met by Kaljevic who headed the ball inside the net.

On the 70th minute, Matteo Piciollo of Valletta saw his shot being saved by Naumovski.

Nine minutes later, Naumovski made himself a protagonist once more as he parried Kyrian Nwoko’s shot for a corner.

Valletta doubled their advantage on the 82nd minute. Fontanella hit an angled shot that gave Birkirkara’s goalkeeper no chance.

The Citizens sealed the issue two minutes later. Substitute Bogdan Gavrila drilled a low shot that went inside the net.
