Both teams started the match determined to collect the three points in order to climb up in the table.

Following last weekend’s defeat at the hands of St Andrews, Qormi started the match sitting second from bottom with just four points.

The Rainbows also suffered a defeat in their last encounter against Birkirkara. Their results through this campaign were also far from ideal as they managed to collect just two more points than Qormi.

In fact, both teams cancelled each other throughout the whole ninety minutes. However, as the match seemed destined for a goalless draw, Tarxien scored the winning goal on the 89th minute. Following a corner, the ball went into the path of Scicluna who headed it past Jamie Azzopardi.
