World No. 1 Rafael Nadal could not have started 2011 any better.

Nadal went on to defeat Roger Federer 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) at the World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi.

Meanwhile in Thailand, Kim Clijsters defeated World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki 6-3 4-6 12-10 in an exhibition match.
